ASU Study Validates the Positive Effects of Product B
Isagenix recently released the results of a collaborative study with Arizona State University (ASU) evaluating a healthy aging solution called Product B®. Product B is designed to support telomere health. The length of telomeres, or the caps on the ends of chromosomes that protect DNA, is the key to healthy aging.
“As we age, our cells are constantly dividing and our telomeres shorten during the process,” explains molecular biologist and telomere researcher Bill Andrews, Ph.D. “Oxidative stress, toxins and poor diet can cause the process of telomere shortening to speed up, which means we age faster in life. And the faster we age, the sooner we face age-related health conditions down the road.”
Isagenix Chief Science Officer Suk Cho, Ph.D. says, “Leading telomere researchers agree that direct telomere testing is not where we’d like it. However, there is an indirect measurement supported in the scientific literature linked to telomere health.”
Isagenix partnered with ASU and funded an independent trial to examine an “indirect measurement,” which is a measure of an antioxidant within the body called the catalase enzyme. Catalase combats free radicals that can lead to telomere shortening.
As one of the body’s major antioxidant enzymes, catalase is associated with increased longevity and helped determine how Product B positively affects healthy aging.
At the end of the double-blind study, the subjects using Product B showed a significant elevation of catalase in their red blood cells and increased catalase activity by 30 percent compared to those taking a placebo. The findings suggest profound benefits attributed to Product B supplementation.
Researchers of the study said, “The increase in catalase observed by Product B is an exciting development considering the relationship between the enzyme and increased lifespan in animal studies.”
