Isagenix Completes Annual Corporate Event by Giving Back to San Diego Organizations
100 International Team Members Donate Their Time
Isagenix International, a global health and wellness company, capped off its successful Celebration 2015 event in San Diego, California by giving back to the greater community. In addition to revealing the wish of Make-A-Wish® child Tanika and raising more than $565,000 for the foundation, nearly 100 Isagenix START team members between the ages of 18 and 35 and from countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States volunteered at local organizations. This annual “START Give Back” event gave them the opportunity to spend time at local elementary schools, a food bank, a donation warehouse, transitional housing facilities, a domestic violence shelter, and a Salvation Army adult rehabilitation center and thrift store.
“Anyone can give—you don’t have to have money to donate your time to the community,” says Erik Coover, Isagenix Vice President of Global Field Development. “Time is one of the most valuable gifts. San Diego gave us a lot this week for hosting such an incredible event, and I’m just so grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference.”
Coover led a group who donated their time at Lilian J. Rice Elementary School in Chula Vista, California, which enrolls children taken out of abusive or unsafe home environments. They helped clean up the school’s playground area and played with kids during their recess.
“Isagenix allows us to create more time for ourselves while also paying it forward,” says Ben Kelly, a START Ambassador from Perth, Australia. “Having more time for ourselves means that we can help the people who need it most.”
The START group cleaned up community gardens, helped children paint, organized boxes and cans at the food bank, and much more. Additionally, two START Ambassadors visited a local Wal-Mart and returned with more than $1,000 in supplies, toys, and clothes for a San Diego shelter. Isagenix also donated enough of its products to feed all the families of the organization for weeks to come.
“START Give Back” has become a tradition for Isagenix START members after the Celebration event, which is held annually during the month of August.
